Never a Dull Moment!

Blake is the funniest kid! He gets such a kick out of people sneezing and coughing..(for real and fake). Don't come to our house and have a coughing or sneezing attack, you'll only get laughed at. There is no sympathy from Blake. Enjoy the video!

Good Times...

It's been a while since I've updated this blog of ours, so I thought it was time. Of course Blake is growing and growing. A little fast if you ask me:) He turned 8 months this past week and just out of curiosity I put him on the scale. He hasn't been weighed since his 6 month check up where he weighed in at 16 lbs. Now he weighs in at...20.2!!! Speaking of him, here are the latest pictures...
Oh how he loves being fed!
He can't get enough of the yummy plethora of baby foods out there!

It was such a nice day outside and has been all week! We thought we'd take advantage of it and go out on the lawn. Blake loved it! Most of his time was spent moving around trying to grab the grass and leaves. surprisingly none made it to his mouth...He sure can get on his knees and rock back and forth, but hasn't quite mastered moving forward. He sticks with the army crawl!

Erik and Blake. He sure loves his daddy!

The question in the picture is who's hair is worse? Mine, because of the major roots that need help...or his because it's all over the place?!? (Don't worry, I have an appointment for ME) :)

It was extremely windy, and the gel I put in earlier disappeared. This is why his hair is so crazy!

Halloween day. Happy little guy!

We borrowed my mom's high chair while I was looking for one. This is what always happened when I left the room just for a minute.

Don't worry, this is not what he wears to bed. This was the only thing we had available when he had the worst blow out ever! I've never changed a worse diaper than this. Actually it was barely in the diaper! luckily the pajamas were saved, but a second bath was definitely called for!
I've been trying to teach him how to drink out of a straw (not like there is much teaching involved except putting it in front of him) He wasn't getting the idea since most of the sippy cups with straws have valves which make it harder to suck. So, I tried a cup with out the valve knowing he was going to make a mess and possibly choke a few times sucking up so much water...NOPE, he didn't get it. Finally when I was out to lunch with a few friends I thought I'd give it a try with the restaurant cup and straw. Sure enough, HE DID IT! it's the cutest thing in the world. Seeing those little lips sucking the life out of the little straw. How in the world does a little baby figure so much out? you got me! It's sure amazing all the little new things he does. What's more amazing is how excited I get from straw sucking!

King Of The Jungle!

I just couldn't resist this little costume when I saw it at the store. Since halloween is approaching I had to get a costume for him. The only use we'll prbably get out of it are these pictures and maybe the "trunk or treat" we're going to, but it was worth it! It was sure fun taking these pictures since most of his attention was on the grass and definitely not on us trying to get him to smile.
He's growing so fast. It's now a whole new world for him since he can sit on his own. He can't quite crawl, but he sure does the army crawl. He's pretty fast on the carpet and if he's on the wood floor forget it...he's gone! He changes everyday and it's just more fun! We couldn't ask for a better little guy :)

He's all smiles!
He couldn't get enough of the grass

He's looking at us like we were crazy the way we were trying to get him to smile!

Turner Falls!

This past weekend was Erik's "fall break" (meaning we got Friday off) so we took advantage of the day off and went camping with some classmates of Erik's and some spouses. We had such a great time! We couldn't have asked for a better campground or a better spot! We were right by the running water and not far from the huge falls and caves. The weather was pretty good also. It was kind of nippy, but thanks to those great boy scouts we were able to have a warm fire (and thanks to my little portable propane heater). It was so nice to be able to relax and get away. No we didn't bring the little guy... it would have been way to cold for him. So, we left him with my parent's. He didn't miss us one bit. I got that hint from when we picked him up. He didn't even look or respond to us! :)
We'll definitely be doing a little trip like this again sometime!

Erik in a little empty cove he found. How we got there is another story, climbing all over the rocks with many steep areas..it was kind of scary to watch!
A beautiful pool of water at the end of a hike we took. Erik and his buddies were determined to go beyond the dead end and explore more...

We had some little critters invade our camp while we were sleeping. They raided the M&M's and the beef jerky that were accidentally left out. We heard them trying to get into everything, but since they are such nasty little animals, we let them have at it!

I love this picture Erik took! This is the biggest waterfall at the park.

Another shot of the big waterfall. In the summer you can swim in the huge pool below it. Well, I guess you could swim now if you want to feel the super freezing temperature!

RANDOM...

It's rare to take a picture of him without his little tongue poking out!

He's such a little man!! :)
Never fails...more little tongue!

If you look closely you can see his little teeth coming in.

This is how I usually find him after his nap, playing with his giraffe that I don't know how he reaches b/c it sits on the corner of the crib, and kicking back and relaxing.

Don't be fooled...he can't quite sit up on his own. This was right before he fell over. We're working on it though.

And of course...one of OUR PHONES!

So, Blake is going to be 7 months next week...crazy how time passes so fast! He's growing so fast, it seems like each week I'm putting away more and more close because he doesn't fit in them anymore. It's kind of sad. :( But, that just means I get to take out bigger clothes that are OH SO CUTE!
The weather has been really nice lately and we've taken advantage of that by going on walks. There is a park within walking distance from our house that we go to often. Obviously he can't do much on the playground, but he loves the swing! It's all fun until he tries to grab the handles for sucking! YUCK! But, anything in reach is going in the mouth!
Also...this is big! Erik and I finally have a house phone! We've been married over 3 years and have never had a house phone since our cell phones were just fine. Now that we live in this ancient house the cell phone service is terrible so we did it...we hooked up a house phone! It's crazy how this little thing is so exciting. Sad, but true.

6 Months!

Blake had his 6 month check up this past week. He sure is growing like a weed! Everyday is something new with him...he's such an entertainer and easily entertained!
He weighs 18 lbs! It's in the 5oth percentile, I actually thought it would be in a higher percentile...guess not.
He's 24 inches long. That is actually in the 90th percentile. I guess he's going to have some height on him. Doesn't surprise me, Erik and I aren't the shortest!
I'm not totally sure what his head circumference is, but it's in the 50th percentile. I was shocked about that percentile too...I thought his head was WAAAAAAY on the larger side...guess not.
He's such a happy and fun baby, the video I posted just shows how happy he is! Of course he has his moments...but not very often. :) We love you Blake!

BYU-14 OU-13!

How could we forget Blake? He's our future Cougar!
My best friend from middle school...we haven't seen each other in about 14 years!
This was after the game. It sure cleared out fast, but we were in no hurry to rush to the car and sit in traffic!

The huge screens! There are actually 4! 2 HUGE and 2 smaller ones

The OU band opened the game. This was pretty neat how they stood in the OU letters.

Both headed coaches having a chat before the game

A view from our seats

The stadium from where we parked

What an exciting weekend we had. We drove down with my parent's to Dallas to be a part of the BYU/OU game. My brother lives just outside of Dallas, so we left Blake with my sis-in-law (thanks Loren!) and we all headed to Arlington! Erik and I were torn between who to cheer for since he just graduated from BYU and now attends OU. It was tough. We did end up wearing OU gear, but most of the screaming happened when BYU had the action! We were in the OU section and I know people were looking at us like we were crazy and not to happy with us....wearing Oklahoma but cheering BYU?? We didn't care..we really wanted BYU to win!! It was close, but a good result!
The new stadium is another story. That place is HUGE! It holds about 80,000 people and has huge TV screens that stretch from one 20 yard line to the other 20 yard line. Talk about ULTIMATE HD!
The attendance at the game was close to 75,000.....and it definitely looked like it!
Our seats were pretty high, but there really isn't a bad seat in the house since you have the gigantic TV above you!
We knew a ton of people that were going to the game and one family in particular was fun to see! I've been keeping in touch on Facebook with a best friend of mine from middle school when I lived in Florida. She told me she was going to the game with her whole family and so we thought it would be so fun to meet up and have our families catch up! It was so fun to see them after all these years...Facebook really brings people together!! :)

VACATION!

We spent as much time as we could with Aunt Vanessa and the kids. (Uncle Elton was usually at work). Blake loved the swing in the back yard. I guess we'll have to get a swing set one of these days!

Blake is here just hanging out with his great-grandparent's right before we walked around the lake up at Payson Lakes!

My mom (oma to Blake..which is grandma in dutch) and I with Blake walking at Payson Lakes. It's rare to have my dad (papa to Blake) in the picture since he's always the photographer!

Here is Blake with his 3 cousins on Erik's side. Vivi, Aubrey and Dillon. It was so fun to have all the cousins together. Last time they were together he was not quite 2 months old and needless to say...not very social! It's only been 4 months, but he's a whole new baby! We only were missing Erik, Mimi and Grandpa-T (Erik's parent's)!!

Blake and Dillon

He's always up for a walk!

Here he is with his other Great-grandpa!

Blake and I just got back from Utah yesterday. It was quite a trip! We left Erik here since he started his fall semester and we drove with my parents and little sister who we dropped off at Dixie in St. George. We went to St. George first and moved my sister into her apartment. We spent about 4 days there with my dad's parent's and then headed up north to Spanish Fork to spend about a week with my mom's parent's.
The drive out there and back was just fine. Blake did extremely well for being couped up in his car seat. He didn't really cry at all! Let's just say thank goodness for portable DVD players and Baby Einstein videos! Also, stopping every 3 hours or so was perfect for him to be able to get out. We had such a great time seeing tons of family and being able to spend time with them. It was sure fun, but we are so glad to be back home with Erik!
